Shrewsbury came away from Exeter with the points after a somewhat fortunate 1-0 win on Saturday.

Exeter had been in control for large periods, but it was Paul Jones who had to make a fine save to deny Shrewsbury the lead through Richard Walker.

The home side then hit the bar three times, firstly through Ryan Harley’s 25-yard free-kick, which was touched onto the bar by on-loan ‘keeper Luke Daniels. Daniels again got a touch onto Richard Logan’s header to keep Exeter out again. Harley did manage to beat Daniels in the end but the bar again denied him and the home side.

After these escapes it was the visitors that secured the win through summer signing Paul Murray (71) who belted home a 25-yard effort.
