Jack Gwilliams signed his first professional contract over the summer and has now tasted his first experience of pre season training at first team level.

He might be a bit out of breath, but he’s certainly not fazed as he says he’s loving every minute of it, and he can’t praise the staff and his team mates enough for making him feel instantly welcome.

Speaking to the Official Site the 18 year old said.

‘It’s been good. Some of the running’s been a bit hard, but you’ve got to get yourself through it and I’m enjoying it. It’s back to football and you can get bored when you’re not doing it.’

Gwilliams was joined in pre season training by his good mate, Ryan Woods, which he says help make the transition a little easier as he had somebody to talk to from the get go, instead of not knowing anybody.

‘It can be daunting at the start but you get to know the lads and soon start to feel at home, I’m good friends with Woodsy so that helps.’

Gwilliams is grounded enough to know that the hard work has only just begun though. Passing pre season tests and being fit enough come the start of the campaign is one thing, he then needs to show he can work hard on the training pitch, listen to advice, and learn so he can earn his chance in the first team.
