Assistant manager Mike Jackson has said that he has no doubts that Mickey Demetriou will prove himself to be an exciting signing for the club.

With the 24 year old signing a two year deal with us, Jacko told the Official Site that he was one of our key targets, so he’s delighted to have seen him sign the deal.

‘We’ve seen quite a bit of him and watched him quite a few times. He can play left back and left sided centre back as well. He’s a good size, athletic, and he will do well for us. He’s the right age and he’s got the potential to improve as well and that’s what we’re trying to bring in.’

Jacko goes on to say that obviously this season is a lot different from last season, and with Demetriou being the third defensive player we have signed so far this summer, he says it’s about having the potential to grow further and make better players who are at a good age out of them, that is key to us moving forward on a stable basis.

Of course we also have to look at a keeper, but no doubt discussions are being held in that direction as well.

‘They’ve all played at a good level and all have the potential to go and play above so you’re not trying to rebuild the back four every year. We’re trying to do that with the rest of the team.’
