Manager Mike Jackson was very disappointed following our loss to Colchester United last night and he had to be pretty honest in his summation when speaking to the Official Site after the damaging loss.

‘I’m disappointed because I thought we started the game really well, but early on we’ve created a chance and we should score. We know where we are and we asked for a response after Bristol City and we got it against Wolves. We’ve got to do the same thing now against Bradford and need to win and do the same at Carlisle, it’s as simple as that.’

The early chance by Tom Eaves Jackson effectively thinks changed the game really as had it gone in spirits would’ve been lifted and we could’ve gone on to get a second and a real grip on the game, but missing, especially in that manner and it really is a case of ‘here we go again.’

‘Sometimes things like that can knock the stuffing out of the players, we started the game well and they’ve come back at us, but we didn’t start the second half as I would have liked and we never got going.’

In the post match press conference the gaffer was also asked if that game epitomised our season in terms of effort v reward, and Jackson could hardly disagree because in way too many games this season we’ve created a good number of opportunities and simply not taken them, and at the very least we should have a few more draws on the board and those points could’ve been invaluable, and that’s ignoring the wins we should’ve got.

Moving forward Jacko has set a target of five wins from the remaining nine matches to really give us a chance of staying in the division, but Colchester could be very costly indeed now and we simply have to bounce back in our next match.
