Manager Mike Jackson has called on the players to build on our victory over Stevenage by keeping a clean sheet again against Tranmere Rovers this weekend.

Jackson said when previewing the game on the Official Site that everything has to build from defence, and we need to keep it tight so we give ourselves the chance to nick games one nil between now and the end of the campaign, as the last thing he wants to see us try and do is chase games again.

‘At this stage of the season if you’re losing games and losing a lot of goals, it affects confidence. You’ve got to be hard to beat. That doesn’t mean being negative, it means everyone’s got to do their shift defending, not just the back four. I think they’ve done that and we’ve got to continue to do that because if you ship goals away you’re not going to win any games at all.’

Obviously, referencing the it doesn’t mean you have to be negative aspects of a strong defence, Jackson goes on to say that it’s all about balance, and when the time is right it also means attacking with vigour, desire and belief, and he wants to see us do both effectively this weekend to pick up, hopefully, back to back wins.

The gaffer also said that looking back to the Stevenage game having recalled Chris Weale after he’s missed out for the last ten games will be good for him, as he did have a bit to do, but keeping a clean sheet will do his confidence the world of good.
