Shrewsbury’s League 1 season continued with a win against Bury at Greenhous Meadow on Saturday.

Away defeats have proven to be like buses for Shrewsbury’s weekend visitors Bury at the moment, as they waited for ages and then along come two in a row with a 17-match unbeaten run ended at Bradford was followed up by the Shrews beating them two-nil!

Goals in either half from Sullay Kaikai (28), who maintains his impressive goalscoring form, and a beauty from Abu Ogogo (73) saw Shrewsbury to victory.

This win saw the Shrews up to 17th and move three-points away from the bottom four again.

These were the match highlights.

You can see more like this on Shrewsbury Town.

The other results this weekend were as follows:-

Saturday 24th October
Sheff Utd 1-2 Millwall
Barnsley 0-1 Fleetwood
Blackpool 2-0 Crewe
Bradford 1-1 Wigan
Burton 2-0 Port Vale
Chesterfield 0-3 Scunthorpe
Colchester 4-4 Walsall
Gillingham 1-1 Southend
Peterborough 4-0 Doncaster
Rochdale 0-0 Oldham
Shrewsbury 2-0 Bury
Swindon 2-2 Coventry

Looking at these results the stand out ones have to be the wins for Millwall, Fleetwood and of course Shrewsbury?

Millwall would have gone into the early kick-off on Saturday as ‘underdogs’ to Sheffield United but the Blades couldn’t tame the Lions who went away from Bramall Lane with the points after a two-one win.

Both Fleetwood and Barnsley have struggled of late, the Cod Army during the duration of the season really and this has seen them in the bottom four for large periods and of course cost Alexander his job! A one-nil win was secured at Oakwell though as the hosting Reds’ struggled continued, as did a losing run that increases the pressure on Johnson too!

Who was the Shrews Man of the Match in this game? That’s what the latest poll is asking so do cast a vote.

Did a starter, or someone from the bench, offer the most?

Shrewsbury are back in action with another game against Port Vale at Vale Park on Saturday, which could see Anthony Gerrard involved after his non-contract arrival with the Shrews.
