Goalkeeper Jayson Leutwiler has now joined Shrewsbury Town on a two year deal.

Having started his career with Swiss side Basel, he has spent the last two seasons with Middlesbrough, and the 25 year old has made five appearances during his time with the club – four of them coming last season, where he picked up three league games, and a Capital One Cup outing.

Speaking to the Official Site after penning his deal, he explained.

‘I came here yesterday and it was a very positive talk and I’m now really looking forward to the start of the season. Once I’d spoke to the manager and looked around the stadium I had no hesitation making the decision and it’s now a great opportunity for me to play at this club.’

He will now battle it out for the number one spot with fellow summer signing Mark Halstead and he added that with the ambitions of the manager to get this club back into League 1 he feels it’s a great time to be moving to us.
