Released Millwall defender Tamika Mkandawire has joined Shrewsbury.

He becomes the third signing in defence for Graham Turner this summer so far following Alex McQuade and Dave Winfield.

The 30 year old had a lengthy loan spell with Southend last season after falling out of favour at Millwall and he played for them in the JPT Final.

In his first season at Millwall he won their Player of the Season Award.

Speaking to the Official Site he said after signing terms at the club.

‘I’m delighted. It’s good to team up with Graham Turner, Tony Ford and John Trewick again and I’m looking forward to an exciting season. The move had been in the mix for a little while but there was a lot for me to contemplate, obviously moving from London, but it’s the right decision for me and my wife and we’ve got a child on the way.’

Mkandawire can also play in midfield.
