Town manager Graham Turner has urged his players to end their run of five matches without a win when they entertain Lincoln City on Saturday.

Turner believes it is the club’s lack of quality up front that is letting the side down. He was rejected by Calvin Zola this week after approaching him about a loan move from Crewe.

Town enjoyed a storming start to the season as they won five of their opening seven games to top the League Two table, scoring 13 goals in the process along with another six in cup competitions.

But since their 3-1 home triumph over Northampton they have failed to taste success, have been dumped out of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and crucially scored just three times in five encounters.

And Turner warned his side: ‘We’ve got to do better at the other

Turner warned his side: ‘We’ve got to do better at the other end with the chances we have.

‘You look at the make-up of the side and there’s a fair bit of firepower going forward and we’re not producing the final cross, the final pass or the execution of a finish. And that is obviously a cause of concern.’

Turner has also claimed Steve Leslie is low on confidence at the moment and has to believe in himself in order to regain his form.

Turner told BBC Radio Shropshire: ‘I think he lacks confidence and we need to help him get it back.

‘There’s a lot more to come from him, he’s got the ingredients to be a very good player.’

Leslie has started only four league games this season and made four substitute appearances.

‘We need to help him regain confidence, he’s got lovely vision and sees great passes.’
