20 year old midfielder Ryan Woods has said he’s perfectly comfortable being moved round the park a little bit by manager Micky Mellon as he tinkers with things at Shrewsbury.

Speaking to the Shropshire Star ahead of this weekend’s game, the Academy product said he was just happy playing and that means he’d play anywhere for the gaffer as long as he’s involved.

‘You have got to be comfortable playing anywhere and as long as I get on the ball then I’m happy. I feel equally comfortable sitting deep as I do playing as part of a flat midfield four – you’ve got to be versatile anyway, especially as a midfield player – you have got to be able to play lots of positions.’

Woods goes on to reference last season where he was moved round pretty regularly, even including some stints at right back so he says it’s come as nothing new to him and he’s just happy to be continuing his development and being part of our success so far this season as that’s what he wants to do.

He has of course come in for particular praise from the manager on a number of occasions and whilst he says that obviously pleasing to hear after games, he knows he can’t get carried away and he just has to keep his head down, keep working hard and as long as the praise keeps coming then he’s obviously doing something right.
