Woods – Wolves Point Is A Confidence Booster

Ryan Woods has said that the point we battled hard for in the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers could be a fantastic confidence boost for the team ahead of the run in to the end of the season now.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game with Wolves on a successive victory run of nine games (a club record) Woods said that it was potentially our ‘best result’ of the entire season because few if any would’ve put money on us taking a point from that game, so it could be absolutely huge for us going forward.

Of course for us, it’s also the third clean sheet we have kept in the last six games which does set us up nicely to really build on performances of late and start getting the results we want.

‘It’s a massive point for us. We wanted to get three but you come to a ground and team like this and they shouldn’t be in our league if we’re honest. We’re worked hard a a team and deserved the result. I’d say it’s the best result we’ve had. The Notts County game was a good one, winning when we were two nil down, but to come to a team like Wolves in their own backyard and get a draw is a massive confidence booster.’

Woods admits that as the game drew on and Wolves really upped the tempo in order to try and get the goal in their favour, we did start to sit deeper but in many ways that was to be expected especially as players started to suffer from tiredness from their efforts and we had a few not at 100% with them returning from injury and knocks, but for him we really dug deep, sat back and kept things tight and just didn’t give them much room to have hurt us.

‘I said to a few I think that’s the hardest I’ve every worked in a match without touching the ball very often. Physically though we did well and got through it.’

Next up is Colchester and in effect our game in hand and with them five points ahead of us in the table, a return of all three points would well be huge for us and help close that gap that we have unfortunately allowed to build with the teams ahead of us. On the back of the point against Wolves, two wins now would make the world of difference to how the table looks and Woods is confident we can do just that as long as we keep working as hard as we currently are.
