Chairman Roland Wycherley was delighted to see Shrewsbury rewarded with a home tie against Manchester United in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Having been rewarded with the game against Louis van Gaal’s boys for our efforts in the fourth round tie against Championship side Sheffield Wednesday, the chairman said the club had already received plenty of interest about the game and the date for the match hasn’t even been set yet!

Speaking to the Official Site earlier today, he explained.

‘I am delighted for the supporters that we have been drawn against Manchester United, particularly for those supporters who watch us home and away on a regular basis. The Sheffield Wednesday game was one of those wonderful ones which became another special memory at the Greenhous Meadow. It is a great achievement by Micky and the team to reach the fifth round of the FA Cup for the first time in 25 years. To be drawn at home against one of the most iconic football sides in the world is great not only for the club and our supporters but also for the people of Shrewsbury and Shropshire. However we are acutely mindful of our league position and are doing all we can to support Micky to ensure that we secure our League 1 status.’

Once the date of the game is confirmed, ticket details will be sorted and announced in due course.
