JPT penalty pain

Salop fans would have made the late trip back home from Greater Manchester disappointed that another door to Wembley had been slammed shut by the dreaded penalty shoot out.

Bury beat Town 6-5 via the penalty spot after a dire goalless draw at Gigg Lane.

Town only mustered up two attempts on target throughout the match and can not really complain about being knocled out by Alan Knill’s side.

Centre-back Daniel O’Donnell was the unlucky player to see his shot saved by Shakers goalkeeper Cameron Belford.

Manager Graham Turner told BBC Radio Shropshire: ‘Obviously we’re disappointed to go out. There were some good penalties, and Bury have just got the odd one.

‘We didn’t really turn up in the first half, we didn’t get the movement we expected.

‘But in the second half we gave it a right go, we passed it better, we were more aggressive in everything we did – and we had the best chance of the match in the last five minutes with young Tom Bradshaw.’

Well, at least we can concentrate on the league then…
