After Calvin Zola rejected two offers to join the magnificent club that is Shrewsbury Town, it appears the club have given up on the Crewe striker.

The Railwaymen have declared that none of the clubs that were interested in the rangy striker have made a fresh approach for Zola.

The former Newcastle United and Tranmere Rovers man looks set to stay at the club until at least January and find for his place.

Zola was included in the match day squad that travelled to Southend at the weekend, but he remained on the bench. He is out of contract next summer after singing a three-year deal in 2007.

Dario Gradi told the club’s official web-site: ‘There is nothing new with Calvin. No-one has spoken to me again about him. He was in the squad for the Southend game and will be continue to be judged on merit like everyone else.’
