It is official Zola has held talks with Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner. This is no past-it player we are talking about here, but a rangy striker called Calvin.

The Crewe forward has held talks with the club concerning a possible loan move.

The 25-year-old was Alex’s top scorer last term with eighteen goals but has somehow struggled to find a way in to the Crewe squad.

Crewe have denied the striker is leaving for now and he is in contention for their match against Torquay tomorrow.

It looks likely that a deal will be wrapped up next week though and we could see the former Newcastle man against Lincoln at the Greenhous Meadow next week.

Zola, who has scored one goal in six games this season, has rejected moves to Southend and Bradford.

His contract expires next summer and he is being allowed to go out on loan after losing his place.
